A new cloud-based landscape
PensionDanmark was founded and is still owned by several trade unions and employers’ associations. They administer pension agreements to ensure that all employees with coverage are entitled to pension contributions paid to PensionDanmark, who has 780,000 members employed at 22,700 private and public sector organizations. The mission is to help its members enjoy a good and long work life, and a financially secure later life.
PensionDanmark initiated a platform lift to phase out the old mainframe system in favour of an Azure cloud-based system landscape – hence the name.
To achieve this goal in just 1.5 years, Solita carried out the management and implementation in close cooperation with ProjectDanmark.
Solita has contributed in the delivering of four systems in connection with the platform lift (PFL) with full delivery responsibility, project management and implementation. After the project delivery, all four systems have been transferred to the Application Management Service, as Solita is responsible for handling the operation and support of the systems henceforth.
Security within
PensionDanmark’s most critical system is Dynamics 365 CRM, which stores and displays all personal and company master data, such as CPR and CVR.
The system contains integrations to several public source systems and personally identifiable data is critical information, which is why Solita is ISAE 3000 GDPR – High Security certified.
Flexibility and scalability
PensionDanmark’s new solution is 100% cloud-based in Azure, which provides a significantly faster and more scalable solution and improved security compared to the mainframe solution. The platform lift also meant that the entire solution is newly developed on modern integrations, and due to the nature of Azure cloud architecture, the overall system is scalable.
The new technical platform provides several major benefits such as better security, uptime, response times, automatic scaling up and down according to usage patterns and the pressure users put on the portal.
- Securing data exposure with JWT and role-based access management
- Management of service provisioning with Azure API Management
- Monitoring via Azure Monitor and Application Insight: Full traceability of communication between components and systems and automatic performance monitoring and alerting
- Complete Audit trail – all operations are logged: Who has read the data, who has created, changed and deleted data. Data classification and other metadata are recorded.
Azure Monitor and Application Insight provide a complete performance overview of the cloud platform across the entire Azure infrastructure and full traceability of communication between components and systems. With automatic performance monitoring and alerting, operational reliability is increased, and a complete audit trail also records all operations so that everything can be searched for in the event of an audit.
