Combining tech and business know-how in a Nordic working culture
I started working at Solita in November 2021, but I’ve lived in Munich for over two years. I’ve studied industrial engineering and management and minored in computer science. My current role enables me to combine both fields.
I need to understand customers’ business, lead discussions about their processes and goals, and estimate how our solutions can help solve their business challenges. It’s a job where I can combine tech and business in a stimulating way.
Another thing that was appealing to me at Solita was the work culture. I’m from Finland, and I wanted to work for a company that has a Finnish working culture: low hierarchies, ability to speak up, and high priority for employees’ well-being.
I had a good image of Solita as an employer before joining. I had looked at their open positions earlier and read the company blog, and I thought it would be a great place to work. I had an image of a company that embraces an open culture where people are trusted. It turned out that this image was very accurate!
People here are open, easy-going, and collaborative. Employees are encouraged to speak up, and if there is a problem, there is also a will to solve it. I’ve found my colleagues to be helpful and caring; support is always available.
Interesting work with great learning opportunities
In my job, I help customers make better use of their master data. It’s about understanding the different data sources and consolidating the data flow into one system, Semarchy, in our case. By doing this work, we can ensure that the customer has all the data in one place, it’s good quality and up to date.
I maintain and develop the Semarchy environment while having ongoing discussions with the customer to understand their needs. What I like about my job is that I get to meet many people from different parts of the customer organisation and support them with their challenges.
I also like the learning and development opportunities at Solita. When I started, I did some courses and certificates. We have plenty of different resources and structures for learning, like mentoring programs and development talks.
Solita pays attention to our wishes regarding the direction we want to take with our growth which means that we can change between projects quite easily.
Building the local presence in Germany
We have a nice team here in Germany. We are growing, and more projects are landing – there is much work to be done in digitizing German companies. The office in Munich is still small, allowing all of us to impact the local ways of being and doing.
It’s interesting to be part of developing the business in Germany from the early stages. Even if we are a small local office, we are part of a bigger Solita community and collaborate across borders. For example, I have colleagues from Finland working with me for our customers in Germany.
Working with colleagues from different countries means that a lot of our meetings are virtual, but we also engage at the office. We are utilizing different working models: some work fully remotely, others mostly from the office, and some combine. I’ve chosen the hybrid model; occasionally, I work from client premises.
While the post-pandemic work is flexible, I also enjoy meeting people in person. With the offices here in Germany growing, I think there will be more opportunities for that too!
We are constantly looking for new colleagues to join our caring community! Take a look at our open positions.
